Trying to catch the acrobatic Eleonora Falcon in flight is a real challenge even with modern AF systems. Almost always the camera wanted to focus on the textured background (eg the sea), so I was forced to use manual AF strongly reducing my success chances.

Observing the flight technique of these super-fast predators in the strong mistral wind is one of the most amazing bird-watching experiences.
