Bee-eater - B276

  Lazio, Italy - July

[1]

Massive pavement stones build in the etruscan era create an optical impression of smooth ocean waves. The bee-eaters often rest on the ground before flying to their nesting holes with a freshly caught cicada. When they take off, it looks like they are emerging from the waves. Do note the worn out wing and tail feathers as they approach the moulting time.
